# Music Lesson Exercise: Quarter Note Rests
In this exercise, we have **quarter note rests** on beat four in bars two and three. However, in bars one and four, we play all the quarter notes.
## Play Options
- You're welcome to use **whichever sticking** you want to vary it a little bit.
- To give you an example, I'm going to try thinking of a random sticking for myself:
- **Bars 1 and 3:** All with the **right hand**
- **Bars 2 and 4:** All with the **left hand**
> *You don't have to do this; I'm just giving it to you as an option.*
### Sticking Techniques
- You can stick with the sticking we discussed:
- Start with the **right** and do **single strokes.**
- Don’t be afraid to mix it up! You could try some **doubles** as well:
- For example, in the first bar, you’d play: **right, right, left, left.**
## Summary
Just so you know what I’ll be playing:
- **Bars 1 and 3:** All **right hand**
- **Bars 2 and 4:** All **left hand**
### Let’s Begin
Okay, here we go:
**One, two, three, four.**
