Lesson plan (2h 49m)
This is Part 2 of the course led by James Rae, a top sax guru and one of the most published authors of educational material for woodwind in the world.
It is based on the hugely successful method for alto saxophone Introducing the Saxophone, published by Vienna based publisher Universal Edition, and is the first of its kind providing popular styles yet allowing for a sound musical development through to intermediate level.
The course follows on from Introducing the Saxophone Part 1, and includes more lessons, demonstrations and peformances with backing track accompaniments that make practice fun and help the student to build confidence in playing and performing.
In the course, James teaches you each note of the saxophone in turn, as well as tone production, breathing, how to read music notation. scales and arpeggios, different options for fingering and more advanced theory concepts like the Chromatic Scale. It is perfect for musicians with some training looking to advance their skills or get back into the alto saxophone after a long break, and can be used for self study or with a teacher.
Included in the course are:
- Detailed lessons, demonstrations and performances
- Studies and Exercises to develop technique
- 30+ original tunes in popular styles
- Backing tracks for alto sax (in Eb)
- Clear fingering diagrams for each note
Player reviews
“I liked everything about this. A particular bonus was the accompanying backing tracks. Starting with just one note, by the end of the course the whole range has been covered. The exercises are nice to play, with witty titles that help to explain the mood of each piece.”
TC“Excellent step-by-step guide. I couldn’t even read music until I got this course!”
Sue Stead“This course is just what I needed, by using it in conjunction with the backing tracks it works very well - perfect!”
