Short fills are extremely useful. If played with good time, feel, and with consideration for the musical message, they can subtly enhance the shape and structure of a performance. If you have followed the last two lessons properly, then you should have a good idea about the mindset that you need to have in order to play your fill-ins with the same time and feel as your beats.
