Ollie Weston is a Saxophonist and Music Educator who has performed in live and studio settings with artists as diverse as Amy Winehouse, Tim Minchin, Bonobo, Frank Turner, The London Jazz Orchestra and many more.
In this first second course based on the best selling book Exploring Jazz Saxophone, published by Schott Music, Ollie helps advancing Jazz players to take the next steps with Jazz improvisation, tackling more advanced progressions and harmony in the context of classic 'standards' and songs based on the "Great American Songbook".
Recorded at the legendary 606 Jazz club in Chelsea, London, the course starts with an exploration of the classic Major and Minor II-V-I progression and how with clear tips and demonstrations for how to tackle these harmonicly and melodically, with lots of exercises and practise songs to assimilate this into your own playing. Ollie then introduces you to standard songs in different styles, the language of Bebop and how to play great sounding licks in the style of greats like Charlie "Bird" Parker, John Coltrane and Cannonball Adderley.
