Chris Haigh is a pro violinist based in the UK. He's played with the likes of Alison Moyet, Bob Geldof and Morcheeba. He's also a world-renowned fiddle expert and educator.
This course of violin lessons is based on his best-selling book Discovering Rock Violin, and will get you playing rock and improvising on the violin in no time.
In this course, you'll start out with learning the basics of how to play as a rhythm player and easy ways to improvise, which he's perfected over years of teaching and workshops with classical and folk players who break out into a sweat at the mere thought of improvisation!
Learn the basics of Rock Violin playing, with a variety of topics that Chris covers in great detail including:
- Soloing
- Pentatonic scales
- How to accompany
- Follow chords and find your place
- Rhythmic techniques
- The Blues
- Modes of the major scale
- Rock style licks and studies
Note that you need a small amount of theory knowledge to get started, but no rock violin experience at all!
Throughout the course, Chris will use several rock melodies to demonstrate particular ideas and you can follow along with the synched sheet music. Also, the course of rock violin lessons comes with downloadable backing tracks so you can play along and try your own ideas and improvisation.
